2 tablespoons diced onion

1/2 cup honey

2

Strain the mixture through a coffee filter and discard the onion pulp

3

Allow the syrup to come to room temperature before using and store at room temp. for 1-2 months.

4

For the second syrup:

Pour the water and sunflower seeds in a microwaveable bowl and microwave on high for 4 minutes and then on medium for 4 more minutes or until water is reduced to 2 cups.

Strain the juice, discarding the seeds.

5

Stir in the gin and sugar and store in a tightly capped container.

6

For both syrups:

Adults should take 1-2 teaspoons every 4 hours. If cough persists, or if there is a fever, call the doctor.

How to Make Nasal Drops From Essential Oils

How to Make Nasal Drops From Essential Oils

Nasal drops made with essential oils are a natural alternative to commercial nasal sprays. Essential oil nasal drops can be made with one or a combination of more than one essential oil. Nasal drops made with essential oils are easy to make. Follow these guidelines to make your own essential oil nasal drops.

Things You'll Need:

Amber glass dropper bottle

Fill a glass amber dropper bottle with distilled water. The amber color of the bottle is important, because some essential oils degrade in quality when exposed to light. The amber color of the glass protects the essential oils from exposure to light. These bottles can be purchased at stores that sell essential oils or online.

2

Add ten drops of one or a combination of more than one essential oil. The following essential oils are good for clearing nasal passages: grapefruit seed extract, lemon, eucalyptus, pine and
lavender
.

3

Shake nasal drops before use. Drop three drops into each nostril.

Tips & Warnings

If the essential oil nasal drops sting, dilute with more distilled water.

How to Make Money With Reiki

How to Make Money With Reiki

Channeling the universal life energy known as Reiki is supposed to be done out of a sense of charity and kindness, without thought for reward. However, treating patients with Reiki professionally can be a great way to make money. In addition, charging a fee determines the depth of the patient's commitment to being treated.

1

Charge a fee for Reiki sessions. While Reiki is universal, charging clients to perform a Reiki treatment on them can determine the depths of their commitment to healing, as well as make money for the practitioner. The usual fee for a Reiki treatment is between $100 and $300 per session, but this can change depending on how wealthy or poor the client is.

2

Teach Reiki to others. Teaching Reiki requires that money change hands, simply as a way of thanking the Reiki master for teaching what she knows to students. The traditional amounts of money made by a Reiki Master for teaching Reiki to students range from half a week's worth of wages for stage 1, up to the money a person would make during 2 weeks' time for stage 3.

3

Create items charged with Reiki energy. Even though the universal life energy that is Reiki can be found anywhere, many Reiki practitioners find that using items charged with Reiki can give their treatments more strength. Candles are a great item with which to start, as they are easy to purchase, and their current popularity will prove to be a money maker.

4

Write about Reiki for magazines and newspapers. Given the amount of interest in alternative and holistic medicine, many publications will be looking for someone to explain the principles and technique of Reiki. Someone with good writing skills can make a lot of money by writing articles, while those without the necessary skills can collaborate with a writer to do a series of articles.

5

Learn other forms of alternative and holistic healing. While Reiki is considered an effective form of healing on its own, performing several other treatments along with Reiki can greatly increase public interest in a clinic or healing business, and provide a multitalented Reiki practitioner the ability to make even more money. Reiki is especially effective when combined with Swedish, Thai or Shiatsu massage, or with crystal therapy.

Tips & Warnings

One does not need to be a full-time Reiki practicioner or Reiki Master in order to make money with Reiki. Several Reiki Masters have full-time jobs in addition to their status as Reiki practitioners.

How to Make Liquid Herbal Medicine

How to Make Liquid Herbal Medicine

Tinctures are herbs in a concentrated liquid form. These extracts are very potent and can be taken with a dropper or by adding them to warm water or juice. There are a variety of choices such as alcohol, apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin. Although the latter two are not as strong as alcohol, they are a good choice for
children
or people who are sensitive to alcohol. Read on to learn how to make liquid herbal medicine.

Things You'll Need:

High quality dried herbs

The solvent for the base or menstruum (alcohol, vinegar or glycerin)

Mason jars that seal tightly

1

Choose a high quality fresh or dried herb from a reputable source. Tincturing preserves the plant and it's healing potential. Put the herbs in a clean, dry mason jar.

2

Pour the menstruum over the herbs until it is approximately 2 to 3 inches over the herbs. The herbs must be completely covered by the liquid. Cover the jar with a tight fitting lid. If you are using glycerin, dilute it with an equal amount of water before pouring it over the herbs. If you are using vinegar, warm it before pouring it over the herbs.

3

Store the tincture in a warm spot in a place that will undisturbed for a minimum of four to six weeks. The longer it can sit, the more potent the tincture.

4

Shake the tincture periodically during the gestation period. This will allow for a more complete mixing process to occur. Some people like to stir them in the full moon to increase the potency of the medicine.

5

Strain the herbs from the menstruum using a large stainless steel strainer lined with cheesecloth or muslin. The strained liquid is now a potent tincture. Bottle the tincture into dropper bottles and label. Store your tincture in a cool, dark place out of children's reach. Tinctures last around 10 years.

Tips & Warnings

Some of the alcohol in the tincture can be removed by placing the tincture in boiling water for 1 to 2 minutes. Some alcohol will remain (about 50 percent).

Herbal blends can be made using the same method.

Tincture are very concentrated and should be administered carefully and used sparingly.

Always use the smallest dosage possible first; "start low, go slow."

Determine if the herbs used have any potential for toxicity and use respectfully.

Match the herbs to the appropriate condition for the specific organ system.

Take the person's general health into consideration and do not overuse the herbs.

Consider whether you are addressing a chronic or acute condition, and recognize that sometimes chronic conditions present with acute symptoms.
